Dear Friends of Houston Center for Contemporary Craft,
We are grateful for the many calls and messages asking after our safety and security following the unprecedented flooding in Houston – we are proud to be part of such a compassionate and steadfast field of colleagues, artists, and supporters. Thank you all.
Houston Center for Contemporary Craft has not been immune to the effects of the disaster still impacting our city. First and foremost, our staff and resident artists are all safe and accounted for, despite those who have seen their homes flooded along with so many in the region. Thanks to the foresight and disaster-preparedness of our staff, the works of art on view at the Center are safe and undamaged. Staff have continually monitored the conditions of the storm and of the building, and environmental controls remain stable.
While our people and the art remain safe, the Center has suffered some minor flooding, with water finding its way into public and exhibitions areas of the building. Over the coming days and weeks, the damage and repair required will become clearer.
The strong show of support by the craft community, both regionally and across the country, has been invaluable – and will continue to be needed in the coming weeks and months as we work to rebuild. We are grateful to you all for your continued encouragement, aid, and solidarity.
