Jewelry making tools

Are you interested in jewelry production, but not sure where to start or what materials to invest in? Discover the basics of jewelry design in this introductory jewelry workshop. Instructor Tarina Frank will demonstrate how to saw out your metal setting and add design elements to make a truly unique piece. During the workshop, learn how to tab set a large cabochon stone. Tab setting, also known as turtle setting, is an easy way to set a stone without using traditional soldering techniques. (No soldering tools are needed for this workshop!) You will also practice how to saw metal, which is one of the most important skills to learn when beginning jewelry making.

Registration fee includes live instruction via Zoom, an informational packet, and one-on-one support through Zoom coaching. Required tools and materials are not included in this fee but can be purchased from Houston-based Jemco Jeweler’s Supply prior to the workshop date. Jemco has assembled a $75 kit specifically for this workshop. If you have any of the tools included in the Jemco kit (see list below), you can remove them and pay only for the items you need. You can also choose to upgrade your kit to sterling silver for an additional fee.

All tools and materials purchased for the use of this workshop are essential to jump starting your jewelry studio practice. Find out if metalsmithing and jewelry making is your calling!
