On June 1, 2012, we celebrated the opening of two new exhibitions at HCCC, Interstitial Spaces: Julia Barello & Beverly Penn and Texas Masters Series: Piero Fenci—Battlement. Over 250 people joined us that evening, including artists Julia Barello, Beverly Penn and Piero Fenci, who spoke about their work with visitors and art enthusiasts.
The artists in our residency program were also the highlight of the evening. Current residents Nathan Dube, Melissa Walter, Jessica Kreutter, John Zimmerman and newest resident, Rachelle Vazquez, spoke about their work with visitors as they strolled through the open studios. Beer lovers enjoyed craft beers by Karbach Brewing Co. and those who were hungry enjoyed food by Oh My! Pocket Pies.
Interstitial Spaces: Julia Barello & Beverly Penn and Texas Masters Series: Piero Fenci—Battlement, are both on view through September 1, 2012. Stay tuned for a video later this month featuring artist Piero Fenci speaking about his exhibition and curator Anna Walker speaking about Interstitial Spaces. Here are some photos from the opening reception; to see the whole set, please visit our Facebook page. We hope to see you soon!
