Please join HCCC for a members-only reception and private tour with HCCC Curator Kathryn Hall and Sandie ZilkerCraftTexas 2016 juror and Associate Dean—Student Exhibitions and Events & Area Coordinator/Jewelry & Enamel at the MFAH’s Glassell School of Art.  Kathryn and Sandie will speak about some of their favorite pieces, including the three award of merit winners, and describe some of the more prevalent themes in the show. Guests are also invited to enjoy refreshments, visit resident artist studios and shop in the Asher Gallery.

CraftTexas 2016 is the ninth in a series of biennial juried exhibitions showcasing the best in Texas-made contemporary craft. Featuring 53 works by 38 artists, the exhibition includes everything from sculpture, jewelry, installation, and cut paper to works that explore diverse subject matter, including genetics, upcycling, and process.  Sandie Zilker and jurors Paul Sacaridiz and Nicole Burisch were tasked with selecting the finest works from a pool of 210 applicants and 556 pieces.
