Join current resident artist Sarah Knight to create a dimensional and experimental, hanging wall relief tile using inclusions of locally sourced, natural materials.

Knight’s practice includes fusing clay sculptures with melted stone and a range of non-clay additives to create sculptures that blend the artificial with the natural. Participants will explore texture, learn sculpting and carving techniques, and experiment with surface decoration using found materials to create layered designs on clay. Finished pieces will be approximately 8 x 8 inches and will incorporate locally foraged clay, slips, sand, shells, rocks, and leaves.

Note: The workshop takes place in person and inside the HCCC building. Space is limited to a maximum of 15 participants. Ceramic works will need to fully dry and be fired in a kiln. Fired works will be ready for pick up after February 2, 2023. Ceramics is a craft that has a risk of breakage during the drying and firing processes.
