Curatorial Fellowship

HCCC’s Curatorial Fellow assists the Curator to develop, execute, and manage at least six feature exhibitions each year at or on behalf of Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC). The Fellow participates in all aspects of curatorial activities, including research for upcoming exhibitions, producing didactic materials and designing exhibition layouts. Additionally, the Curatorial Fellow assists with coordination and installation of exhibitions, art handling and registration. Because HCCC is a mid-size nonprofit arts institution, the Curatorial Fellow gains insight into general operations, including marketing, fundraising, education and social media.

In addition to helping manage feature exhibitions, the Curatorial Fellow, under the guidance of the Curator, has the opportunity to research, curate, and implement six exhibitions each year in the Artist Hall, an alternative exhibit space focused on presenting emerging and/or regional talent. The Curatorial Fellow also has the opportunity to work with staff on creating and executing public programs that advance the mission of HCCC.

The Fellowship is a three-year appointment funded by The Windgate Charitable Foundation. This full-time position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week, with weekends and evenings as needed. In addition to a grant-funded salary, HCCC provides an annual housing allowance, pro-rated 10 days of vacation per year, medical and dental insurance, and optional 403b retirement plan.

Houston Center for Contemporary Craft is an equal opportunity employer. HCCC does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, religion, national origin, age, military and/or veteran status, disability or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, and/or local laws. This policy governs all aspects of employment, including selection, job assignment, compensation, discipline, termination, and access to benefits and training.
