This July, we welcome current resident artist Rena Wood for a special artist talk regarding her unique fiber pieces. Though two-dimensional in nature, Rena’s stitches capture an incredible sense of movement. Her pieces arrest the eye and quietly insist on being viewed. Take advantage of this in-depth opportunity to learn about Rena’s work and chat with her after the lecture.

About the Artist
Working primarily with textile materials and processes, Rena Wood’s work gives physical form to the ephemeral sense of memory. Often using vintage materials, she combines her own history with that of a previous maker. The time she spends working is marked by each stitch, each knot and each repetitive act of her hands. She constructs and deconstructs materials to show suspension: formation and ruin, remembering and forgetting, and the passage and stopping of time.

While you’re in Asher, be sure to check out the Members’ Spotlight Sale. Each month, we feature select artists at a great discount for our members. You never know what you might find!
