HCCC’s summer Craft Social will focus on food and how it relates to culture and identity. Explore the current exhibition, Justin Favela: All You Can Eat, which features larger-than-life piñata sculptures of popular Tex-Mex foods like chili con carne and nachos supreme.  With HCCC Curator, Kathryn Hall, learn how this outrageous installation came together to inspire conversations about popular culture, the politics of food, and the Latinx experience in the U.S. Then, create felt food inspired by your own background and culture. What do your favorite foods say about your identity?

Held quarterly, Craft Socials are casual evening events designed to emphasize experimentation, curiosity, and innovation. Visitors are encouraged to drop by and participate in a night of making and learning about contemporary craft. All events are free and on a first-come first-served basis. Capacity is limited.

Craft beer is generously provided by Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co., and materials are sponsored by Art Supply on Main Street.
