This month, please join us as we create glowing bracelets using non-traditional materials. Ever wondered how LED lights work? Our friends at TX/RX Labs will demonstrate how to create a simple circuit with copper tape and a battery. Each participant will decorate a paper bracelet using colorful sharpies, then, place a circuit on the back to make it glow!
This month’s activity is inspired by our summer exhibitions, featuring contemporary jewelry: La Frontera and Texas Masters Series: Sandie Zilker. Many of the jewelry pieces are made using non-traditional or alternative materials. Make sure to check them out before or after the activity!
HANDS-ON HOUSTON is a free craft-activity open house on the first Saturday of every month. Each month, a teaching artist demonstrates a craft related to the current exhibitions. Families and children of all ages are welcome, and materials are provided. This program supports HCCC’s mission to advance education about the process, product and history of craft.
