This month, join the Texas Association of Original Doll Artists (TAODA) to make a fun pop-up card. Cut and glue a paper rocket, video screen and keyboard to a card, and watch the pieces pop up when opened! A space suit glued to the front of the card creates a pocket for a paper person to slide into. Paper clothes, star stickers, a message box and all types of embellishments will allow kids to personalize their cards. Paper pop-ups and pockets are great to use for school projects!
HANDS-ON HOUSTON is a free drop-in event held the first Saturday of every month (except January and July in 2015). Each month, a teaching artist demonstrates a craft related to the current exhibitions. Families and children of all ages are welcome to come any time between 11 AM and 3 PM and participate in a 15-20 minute activity. Materials are provided. This program supports HCCC’s mission to advance education about the process, product and history of craft. More information at https://crafthouston.org/learn/education-overview/.
