Join former resident artist and ceramist Angel Oloshove to explore the traditional, Japanese Nerikomi technique, which is a decorative, clay coloring process. In this unique, beginner level workshop, participants will learn how to dye clay with mason stain and how to stack and slice the clay to reveal a graphic or marbled pattern. The resulting slabs are ideal for handbuilding. During the workshop, participants can use their Nerikomi clay to make one large platter or several small dishes. Ceramics will be fired in a kiln with a clear, food-safe glaze and ready for pick-up after May 16, 2022, at HCCC.
Note: This event is subject to change or cancellation in response to current COVID-19 conditions. The workshop takes place in person and inside the HCCC building. All participants must wear a mask when inside the building and practice social distancing during the workshop. Space is limited to a maximum of 20 participants, who will be spaced more than six feet apart.
