CRAFTING A LEGACY SPRING LUNCHEON

Time

River Oaks Country Club

This spring, HCCC will honor two visionaries in contemporary craft: the renowned gallerists, collectors, and scholars, Garth Clark and Mark Del Vecchio. For many years, our honorees owned Garth Clark Gallery, one of the most influential ceramics galleries in the world, helping to shape the field and expand the notions of the medium’s possibilities. Together, they assembled an unparalleled collection of modern and contemporary ceramics, as well as an accompanying library and artist archive, which were acquired by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, in 2007. The two have not only served as an inspiration to artists, curators, and collectors everywhere but added immeasurably to our city’s profile as a premiere destination for arts and crafts.

The Spring Luncheon promises to be great fun, with a lively and witty conversation between our honorees and a look at what’s on the horizon for HCCC. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase stunning centerpieces and bid on jewelry and contemporary craft items—including a selection of high-profile ceramic artworks curated by Garth and Mark—in this year’s highly anticipated silent auction.

Proceeds from the Spring Luncheon will benefit HCCC and its mission to advance education on the process, product, and history of craft. Nationally known for its artist residencies, exhibitions, and educational programming, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft is one of the few art venues in the country dedicated exclusively to the interpretation and presentation of craft. HCCC supports emerging and mid-career craft artists with opportunities to further their practices and careers, and engages the wider community through family programs, workshops, and outreach to bring craft into the hearts and homes of our city. Admission to HCCC is always free.
