Spoon Carving Workshop

Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm
Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (Map)

Join current resident artist Miles Gracey in a hand-carving workshop where you’ll learn how to make your own wooden spoon out of maple wood!

Practice the art of reductive sculpting as you learn to carve your shape. Miles, a woodworking artist, creates sculptural furniture that engages viewers through touch, smell, and even taste. In this workshop, participants will learn about different types of wood and carving tools, and gain an overview of the techniques used to cut and carve wood. Hand-carved spoons are a fun and functional carving project that is great for any beginner woodworker!

This workshop is generously sponsored by Woodcraft logo. Each participant will take home their finished spoon and a Kuksa Carving Professional Set to keep for future carving projects.

The workshop takes place in-person and inside the HCCC building. Space is limited to a maximum of 15 participants.
