Installed in the Craft Garden at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC), CITE (Ceramics in the Environment) features site-specific ceramic sculpture created by students from the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH)’s Glassell School of Art. Led by former HCCC resident artist Jeff Forster, the artists in his Special Topics class were tasked with exploring the narrative potential of the location and creating artwork inspired by the garden’s flora and fauna.
The sixth iteration of this exhibition series, this year’s show features work by the Fall 2026 student cohort: Arnold, Jennifer Baldridge, Susana Bernardi, Randy Cecil, Cecilia Graves, Jane Greenberg, Gabriela Monterroso, Jody Radoff, Mariú Saad-Rionda, Suzette Schutze, Marjorie Silverstein, Sherri Slusher, Franki Star, Sabine Triplett, and Anne Walker. Visitors will see ceramic works that draw from the natural world, including floral forms, turtles, fish, and coral-like sculptures rendered in clay, alongside abstract installations that transform the Craft Garden.
CITE was developed in partnership between MFAH’s Glassell School of Art and Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. The exhibition was curated by HCCC Curatorial Fellow, Zaynab Hilal.
