Trevon Latin is a Houston-based multidisciplinary artist. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Houston and a Master of Fine Arts in painting and printmaking from Yale School of Art. His practice bridges painting, sculpture, installation, and craft, drawing from personal history, Southern Black culture, spirituality, and everyday domestic aesthetics.

Having lived across Houston, Latin draws inspiration from Black Southern domestic traditions, working-class resourcefulness, and the cultural rituals that shape identity. His installations often combine sculptural forms, textiles, sound, and narrative to create immersive spaces that invite reflection on the complexities of human experience. Through an interdisciplinary practice, he challenges colonial hierarchies and conventional ideas of aesthetics, using material experimentation to reveal new relationships between his personal history and broader social narratives.

During his residency at HCCC, Latin plans to further his exploration of craft traditions by experimenting with clay and metal fabrication techniques, while deepening connections with Houston’s artistic community. He also hopes to develop his latest body of work, “Ca†walk,” a project that continues his investigation of materiality, cultural connection, and personal (meta) narrative.

Latin’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including solo exhibitions at Perrotin in New York and group exhibitions in Paris, Los Angeles, and Turin. His work has been featured in publications including The New York Times, Artnet, Galerie Magazine, and Colossal. He is a recipient of the Dorothy Laselle foundation travel grant.
