Join current HCCC resident artist Nela Garzón for an engaging introductory latch-hook workshop!
This hands-on workshop will begin with a visit to Nela’s studio, where you’ll gain insight into her unique fiber artworks and creative process. Then, you will learn the fundamentals of latch hooking, beginning with creating your own design and transferring it onto a latch-hook canvas. Nela will guide you through the essentials of color selection, blending, yarn preparations, and adjusting pile heights to create rich textures. You’ll also master the latch-hook knotting technique.
With plenty of time for hands-on practice and personalized instruction, you will explore how to plan, set up, and begin your own latch-hook piece. By the end of the workshop, you will leave with a small, custom wall hanging, and the skills to confidently continue your latch-hook journey at home!
Note: The workshop takes place in person and inside the HCCC building. Space is limited to a maximum of 15 participants.
