Holding onto a chipped or broken ceramic piece in the hopes you’ll repair it someday? Learn how to do just that in this modern kintsugi workshop, led by artist Shang-Yi Hua! Explore this ancient, Japanese pottery-mending practice with Hua, who will lead the class through the process of modern kintsugi, using urushi and copper powder, to mend cracks and broken pieces. At the end of the workshop, participants will leave with a repaired and renewed object ready to beautify their homes for years to come!
Note: Participants must bring their own chipped or broken ceramic. Due to the materials used in the kintsugi process, the repaired ceramics will not be food safe. All other supplies will be provided.
No experience is necessary. The workshop takes place in person and inside the HCCC building. Space is limited to 12 participants, so early registration is encouraged.
