In 2017, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft entered its 16th year of operations, and, with a fervor comparable to a teenager with a newly minted driver’s license, the Center spent the year exploring what an institution dedicated to contemporary craft could be. We increased the breadth and depth of our exhibitions and programming, presenting new and novel offerings to regional audiences, while participating in the frontier-less dialogue of the field, all while remaining free to the public.
