Apply to be an Outreach Teacher

Houston Center for Contemporary Craft is recruiting artists to teach outreach programs. Teaching artists work in HISD elementary schools to lead after-school art classes using craft materials. HCCC offers the following:

  • Competitive compensation of $30/hr, plus mileage and partial prep-time reimbursement
  • Teaching materials and supplies will be reimbursed or provided
  • Orientation provided
  • Teachers must commit to weekly one-hour classes for a semester (about 15 weeks)
  • Classes are scheduled after school for about an hour between 3:00 and 5:00 PM
  • Class size ranges from 5 to 15 students and grade levels K-5
  • Some lesson planning experience required
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Must have reliable transportation
