Please join us for a gallery talk and casual chat featuring Asher Gallery jewelers and CraftTexas 2014 artists, Heidi Gerstacker and Caitie Sellers. We’ll learn more about their exhibition pieces, and see how they relate to the work we feature in the Asher Gallery.
Heidi Gerstacker is inspired by evidence of the extraordinary in ordinary life: “A stroll through an urban neighborhood provides a variety of visual influences. Some may be natural–others are manmade–but either can spark an idea.” She has been represented by the Asher Gallery for many years and was selected by jurors for five of the eight CraftTexas exhibitions.
Caitie Sellers, a 2013-2014 resident artist at HCCC, is interested in themes of urbanization, architecture, and social development. She uses the local landscape to inspire her work for both the body and the wall. You’ve never seen an exit ramp or overpass look so lovely as the ones she portrays with contour lines in metal.
