Please join us on Saturday, October 19th, 12 – 3 PM, for a casual event with popular local ceramist, Lotus.  Drop in to chat with the artist and learn more about her work and grass-roots approach to building the clay community in Houston.  Many of you may be familiar with her widely exhibited sculptural and functional pieces, including the popular skull and vegetable collections. But did you know Lotus has been teaching ceramics in Houston for 16 years?  From private lessons to graduate-level courses, she has made her mark as an instructor in the Gulf Coast region. She’s now taken this a step further with the opening of Third Coast Clay, a ceramics studio specializing in pottery-wheel lessons for beginner to advanced levels.

Lotus explains the source for her inspiration:  “I am constantly stimulated by the world around me and feel compelled to translate it into a way that I can share with others. Functional work is inspired by objects I use myself or would like to use. My figurative, sculptural works become conglomerations of my encounters, sprinkled with the kind of nervous energy persisting in present day America.”
