Please join us in Asher Gallery for a festive holiday reception on November 15th.  Enjoy refreshments, nibbles, and fabulous shopping as we kick off the annual HCCC Members’ Double Discount Sale, November 15 – 18.

Asher Gallery is pleased to offer new collections by some of the most respected artists in Houston:  Andre and Virginia Bally, who work with glass and ceramics, and nationally known metalsmith, Sandie Zilker.  This will be the first time Asher has presented work from Sandie, as well as a trunk show featuring an artist duo. Though they work in very different media, these three artists share a deep interest in form, design, and craftsmanship that unites their work.

Andre and Virginia Bally have been working together since 1994, when they founded Bally Studios. Their collaborations have been greatly influenced by the cultures and design motifs of traditional Japanese and North American Indian potters, as well as their diverse backgrounds in art and design. These influences, fused with long hours of research and experimentation, makes each of their pieces a unique creation, as they explore new directions in ceramic and glass.

Working with metal, Sandie Zilker approaches her work in a similar fashion, incorporating structural elements and a graphic sensibility to elevate adornment to new heights. Be it a necklace, brooch or earrings, her work is about using the body as a frame of reference and the relationship between jewelry and the model. Her new body of work, Dot. Dot. Dot., is all about dots, and Sandie won’t be limiting herself to silver. These pieces will incorporate a variety of different materials, textures and dot patterns, so be prepared to be amazed!

The trunk show continues on Saturday, November 17, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The artists will be present on Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon, so make sure to stop by and talk with them about their work!
