HCCC is asking our members, friends and visitors to collect and donate their old Houston Chronicle newspapers for use as source material in an exciting community-based exhibition. Please drop off your papers (Houston Chronicles only, please) during regular business hours from Saturday, February 7th – Saturday, February 14th. There will be a recycling bin for the papers located inside the glass back doors at HCCC.

On view September 18, 2015 – January 3, 2016, What Happened Today? will show the relevance of print news and hand-crafted objects and their combined ability to communicate parallels among the voices of the individual, the greater Houston community and the world-news stage. The exhibition was conceived by Arizona-based fiber artist, Ann Morton, and will feature her newly created works, including components made by Houston-area community groups and HCCC visitors.

The recycled Houston Chronicles will be cut into strips and woven into a large-scale rug installation, which will be on display in the show. Learn more about the exhibition and its community partners hereWhat Happened Today? is made possible by generous support from the Houston Chronicle.

Many thanks for your help! For more information, please contact HCCC Curator Elizabeth Kozlowski atekozlowski@crafthouston.org.
