Join Houston Center for Contemporary Craft for Craft Social, a night of making and exploring contemporary craft over conversation and refreshments. (This event was rescheduled from its original date of September 21.)

Join HCCC to explore experimental sound, inspired by the works on view in our current exhibition The Sound of Things. Explore the exhibition through tours with curatorial fellow, Sarah Darro, and discover how artists Bohyun Yoon and Alyce Santoro conceptualize sound within objects and craft materials. Discover how music and art interact through a sound performance by trio Megan Easley, Gabriel Martinez and David Dove. Learn about the art of sound-hacking digital circuits with electrical engineers from Vampire Squid Labs. Listen to and visualize audible wave forms generated by various electronic components, and uncover how a simple audio synthesizer can be constructed with a minimal number of parts.

Craft Social takes place on the third Thursday evening of each month and is a fun way for adults to explore contemporary craft through other disciplines and media.  These casual, social events emphasize experimentation, curiosity, and innovation. Visitors are encouraged to drop by and participate. All events are free and on a first-come first-served basis. Capacity is limited.

Craft beer is generously provided by Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co.
Materials are sponsored by Art Supply on Main Street.
