Join Houston Center for Contemporary Craft for the first Craft Social, a night of making and exploring contemporary craft over conversation and refreshments. This new event series will take place on the third Thursday evening of each month and is a fun way for adults to explore contemporary craft through other disciplines and media. Visitors are encouraged to drop by, participate, and have a good time! Craft beer generously provided by Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co. Materials sponsored by Art Supply on Main Street. All events are free and on a first-come first-served basis. Capacity is limited.
This month, participants will dive into the art of the miniature and learn about Pocket Museum, an enchanting new exhibition of miniature objects, with HCCC Curatorial Fellow Sarah Darro. Craft your own miniature house with current resident artist Amber Marie Smith, explore architectural models with students from the Rice Architectural Society, and learn about the history of the miniature within architecture. At 6:30 PM, Eric J. Arnold, the lab manager at the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design at the University of Houston, will give a brief presentation.
