In May, join HCCC in the Craft Garden to create nature weavings inspired by the Contemporary Handweavers of Houston’s exhibition.

THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED

Learn how to weave materials found in nature, such as willow, grasses, leaves, sticks, and flowers. Experiment with textures and colors inspired by your natural surroundings to add depth to your composition. Problem solve through making in this unconventional weaving project.

HANDS-ON HOUSTON is a free drop-in event held the first Saturday of every month. Each month, a teaching artist demonstrates a craft related to the current exhibitions. Families and children, ages three and up, are welcome to come between 11 AM and 3 PM and participate in a 25-minute activity. Materials are provided, and teaching artists and volunteers give step-by-step instruction. This program supports HCCC’s mission to advance education about the process, product, and history of craft. Learn more here.
