As decorations start to sparkle on rooftops and through living room windows across Houston, give a handmade touch to your own holiday trim at this month’s Hands-on Houston! Craft woven star decorations with everyday materials like yarn and cardboard, and experiment with different color combinations and patterns to make them unique. Once finished, you can display your festive, one-of-a-kind star decorations anywhere that needs a little extra twinkle!
Note: Please allow 20 minutes to complete this activity. The activity will take place indoors and is on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.
HANDS-ON HOUSTON is a free drop-in event held the first Saturday of every month (except in January and July). Each month, a teaching artist or guild demonstrates a craft related to the current exhibitions. Community members of all ages are welcome to come any time between 11 AM and 3 PM and participate in a 15 – 20-minute activity. Materials are provided. This program supports HCCC’s mission to inspire and connect people to the art and process of making. Learn more here.
While you’re at HCCC, enjoy these other festive activities during Craft the Season—a full day celebrating the joy of making. You’ll find artisanal snacks and beverages, one-of-a-kind holiday shopping, family fun, and more!
