Join HCCC and Zine Fest Houston to celebrate the closing of Clutch City Craft and explore self-expression by making a zine! Zines, short for “magazines,” are self-published, do-it-yourself booklets about any topic you can imagine! Get inspired by exploring Clutch City Craft, which showcases how craft has shaped Houston’s cultural identity over the past 100 years, from mosaic street signs to cowboy boots. Then write, draw, stamp, or collage a one-page zine that captures your own unique style! What will your zine share about YOU?
About Zine Fest Houston
Zine Fest Houston (ZFH) supports zinesters, artists, and self-publishers by creating inclusive year-round opportunities, educational programs, publications, and a free annual festival to showcase DIY work, amplify marginalized voices, and foster equitable conditions for its creative community to thrive.
Note: Please allow 25 minutes to complete this activity. The activity will take place indoors, and is on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.
HANDS-ON HOUSTON is a free drop-in event held the first Saturday of every month (except in July). Each month, a teaching artist or guild demonstrates a craft related to the current exhibitions. Community members of all ages are welcome to come any time between 11AM and 3 PM and participate in a 20–25-minute activity. Materials are provided. This program supports HCCC’s mission to inspire and connect people to the art and process of making. Learn more here.
