Please join HCCC and artist Holly Hanessian for a special project called Touch in Real Time, part of a series of events taking place across the country. The project involves Holly shaking hands with as many people as possible (the activity is ideal for ages 8 and up, but all are welcome). Each handshake contains a wet piece of clay, imprinting each participant’s hand with that of the artist’s hand. Holly will hold onto each person’s hands for 6 – 10 seconds, which is the time it takes for the bonding hormone, oxytocin, to be released into our bodies. The project was planned in conjunction with Kate Lydon, Curator of the Society for Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh, PA, and will culminate in an installation in the fall of 2013 at the Society for Contemporary Craft.
