Join the Gulf Coast Woodturners for this introductory woodturning workshop hosted in person and outdoors in the HCCC parking lot.

Participants can choose one of the following time slots (maximum 6 people per slot):
10:00 – 11:00 AM
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
12:00 – 1:00 PM

Turn a small block of wood into a functional hand-crafted pen to give as a gift or transform writing your to-do list into a special task. Woodturning is the craft of using the wood lathe with hand-held tools to cut a shape that is symmetrical around the axis of rotation. Like the potter’s wheel, the wood lathe is a simple mechanism, which can generate a variety of forms. Woodturning is great for people who like to work with their hands, problem-solve, or enjoy the tactile nature of working with wood. Sign up for one of three time slots for a one-on-one demonstration and woodturning lesson with an expert woodturner. This workshop offers a great way to experiment with woodturning before you invest in tools and supplies!

Note:  This event is subject to cancellation in response to current COVID-19 conditions. The workshop takes place in person and outside in the HCCC parking lot. All participants must wear a mask when inside the HCCC building and practice social distancing during the workshop. Space is limited to a maximum of 6 participants, per hour, who will be spaced more than 6 ft apart.
