Join local artist and leatherworker Brian Weekes to craft your own classic leather belt, which is sure to become a favorite wardrobe staple! In this beginner workshop, participants will learn how to cut leather into straps, bevel and burnish edges to seal your belt, and attach hardware, transforming a piece of hide into a finished accessory. To add a personal touch, stamp your initials with leather stamping tools.
After the workshop, stop by the galleries to see how artists across Houston craft various adornments, from western boots to grillz, in our current exhibition Clutch City Craft.
Note: No experience is necessary. If you are making a belt as a gift, please bring the recipient’s measurements. The workshop takes place in person and inside the HCCC building. Space is limited to 12 participants, so early registration is encouraged.
