Image of pewter rings samples and Nash Quinn in his metals studio at HCCC

Join current resident and exhibiting artist Nash Quinn to learn how to cast, customize, and finish a pewter band ring.

This workshop is sold out. To be added to a waitlist, email education@crafthouston.org.

Inspired by the current exhibition, Rings! 1968 – 2021, which captures avant-garde notions of contemporary jewelry and showcases the limitless creative potential of the ring, this beginner level workshop is a great way to explore the metal arts and test out materials and processes before investing in tools and equipment.

Learn the basic principles of melting pewter metal, pouring it into a simple ring mold, then cutting, sizing, texturing, sanding and polishing your own ring with a variety of jeweler’s tools. Participants will leave with a finished band ring, as well as an understanding of one of the many ways that raw metal can be transformed into a refined piece of jewelry.

Note:  This event is subject to cancellation in response to current COVID-19 conditions. The workshop takes place in person and inside the HCCC building. All participants must wear a mask when inside the building and practice social distancing during the workshop. Space is limited to a maximum of 15 participants, who will be spaced more than six feet apart.
