Join current HCCC resident artist Priscilla Dobler Dzul for a free, hand-built, ceramic vessel workshop. This two-part, experimental workshop will explore how to build a vessel for personal use. Discover how to adapt a vessel that is responsive to your own body and how it would be held, as you learn about Dobler Dzul’s artistic practice and concepts that explore the invisible labor of the service industry and the historical role of women serving food.

**Part 1: January 22, 2022 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM**
**Part 2: February 26, 2022, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM**

During part one of the workshop, build your vessel, learn a variety of ceramic techniques, such as coil building and pinching pots, and join in a discussion about Dobler Dzul’s artistic practice. In part two, pick up your glazed ceramic and join Dobler Dzul in an outdoor gathering around hot chocolate served in the finished vessels. Discover the history and the commodification of chocolate as you enjoy chili-infused hot chocolate crafted by Dobler Dzul herself, as she experiments with her mother’s recipe.

This workshop is for adults aged 18+ or children aged 13+ accompanied by a parent or guardian. No experience necessary. Supplies will be provided. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. While this is a free workshop, registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Vessels will be fired in between workshop dates using a clear glaze for the interior, making the vessel food safe.

THE WORKSHOP IS NOW FULL. To be added to the waitlist, please email programs@crafthouston.org.

Note: This event is subject to change or cancellation in response to current COVID-19 conditions. Part one takes place in person and inside the HCCC building. All participants must wear a mask when inside the building and practice social distancing during the workshop. Part two takes place outside in the Craft Garden. Space is limited to a maximum of 15 participants, who will be spaced more than six feet apart.
