Please join us during the closing weekend of our current exhibitions, as we host two of our most popular artists for our spring trunk show. Both former resident artists, ceramic sculptor Jason Kishell and metalsmith Caitie Sellers express narrative themes in their work, with a fine handling of line, be it an anthropomorphized sculpture or a brooch constructed of silver and copper. These two artists make an intriguing pair, and we encourage you to see their work, side by side, and explore the different ways in which they see the world around them.

OPENING RECEPTION & PREVIEW
Friday, May 8, 2015 from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm

TRUNK SHOW
Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm

Nationally exhibited ceramist Jason Kishell turns his pen to clay to express his individual relationship with the natural world, as well as humanity’s role in the same space. Often working with the themes of scientific study and adventure, Jason incorporates his ideas into objects ranging from fantastic sculptures to whimsical mugs. His work is a perfect marriage of concept and pure technique.

Caitie Sellers brings a similar combination of theory and practice in her jewelry and metalsmithing. With her recent series, she has drawn inspiration from the urban landscape—specifically, our nation’s highway system. Using photos or sketches of overpasses and flyways as a starting point, she recreates these images in metal, unearthing the formal beauty that surrounds most of us every day. (Don’t worry–Caitie never drives and sketches!)
