Drop by HCCC to explore the current exhibition Tree of Life with an afternoon of chess. Learn how the African blackwood tree’s naturally dark, nearly black, colored core makes it a preferred choice of material for ornamental turning, carving, use in woodwind instruments, and in everyday objects such as chess sets. Take your own turn at chess, or watch a match between other museum visitors.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own boards and chess sets, as supplies will be limited. No reservations are required, and drop-ins are welcome!
