Join HCCC and local artist Lucy Carranza to create your own needle-felted ornament and add a handmade touch to your holiday decor!

Needle felting is the process of binding together fiber with a needle to create three-dimensional forms. For millennia, humans have made a variety of home and clothing textiles with wool. The overlapping scale structure of wool not only makes it an exceptional insulator and durable fiber; a bit of agitation creates felted wool. This property allows for a great deal of versatility that can transform wool into garments, toys, and sculptures.

In the workshop, participants will learn the transformative process of needle felting. Choose from a selection of patterns, and personalize your ornament by experimenting with colors. Learn how to create your three-dimensional form and add details. Finish your ornament by adding a complementary ribbon to turn it into a Christmas tree ornament, door decor, or even a bag charm you can use year-round!
