Join HCCC for Craft Social, a night of making and exploring contemporary craft over conversation and refreshments.

In May, we will explore ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement.  More than simply arranging flowers in a containerikebana is a disciplined art form in which nature and humanity are brought together.  Learn about this art form’s history with a short presentation by Sylvia Hanna-Russel from the Ikenobo School of Ikebana. Then, with help from the experts at the Ikebana Society of Houston, play with form, color, and line using a variety of plants to create an asymmetrical floral composition.  Plants and vases will be provided, and some materials will be sourced from HCCC’s very own Craft Garden.

About Craft Social
