Installed in the Craft Garden at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, CITE (Ceramics in the Environment) features site-specific ceramic sculpture created by students from the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston’s Glassell School of Art. Led by former HCCC resident artist Jeff Forster, the artists in his Special Topics class were tasked with exploring the narrative potential of the location and creating artwork inspired by the garden’s flora and fauna.
The sixth iteration of this exhibition series, this year’s show features work by the Fall 2025 student cohort: Tim Arnold, Rod Azadan, Naomi Choi, Amisha Dalwadi, Marlene Delaguardia, Betsy Evans, Karina “Aimee” Kudla, Adriana LoRusso, Sam Madero, John O’Brien, Suzette Schutze, Sherri Slusher, Franki Star, Gita Vanwoerden, and Anne Walker. Visitors will see succulent and cacti varietals rendered in clay, intimate domestic scenes such as picnic and breakfast table settings, and contemplative pieces that respond to seasonal transitions.
CITE was developed in partnership between MFAH’s Glassell School of Art and Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. The exhibition was curated by HCCC Curatorial Fellow, Zaynab Hilal.
