Join Houston Center for Contemporary Craft for Craft Social, a night of making and exploring contemporary craft over conversation and refreshments.
This month, participants will explore the art of weaving. Make your own loom from canvas stretchers and simple materials, and leave your mark on our over-sized weaving project. Take inspiration from the current exhibition, Future Tradition: Melissa Cody, and watch resident artist Lisa Hardaway as she expertly spins yarn and demonstrates weaving techniques.
At 6:30 PM, in the Front Gallery, join HCCC Executive Director Perry Price for a brief presentation on the Navajo signs and symbols Melissa Cody uses in her work.
About Craft Social
Craft Social takes place on the third Thursday evening of each month and is a fun way for adults to explore contemporary craft through other disciplines and media. These casual, social events emphasize experimentation, curiosity, and innovation. Visitors are encouraged to drop by and participate. All events are free and on a first-come first-served basis. Capacity is limited.
Craft beer is generously provided by Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co.
Materials are sponsored by Art Supply on Main Street.
