This month, HCCC celebrates the art of the bowl, in honor of the upcoming Empty Bowls event on May 26th. Experience the texture and feel of clay, while making pinch pots decorated with small colored rocks.
Join Renee LeBlanc, local ceramist and representative of Empty Bowls Houston, as she guides you through this fun activity. Older children and adults may want to further the creative experience by adding clay coils and handles to their pots. The pinch pots will not be fired, so participants may take their bowls when they leave. All ages are welcome and materials will be provided.
Throughout the afternoon, current resident artist, John Zimmerman, will do a live pottery demonstration. Watch John as he throws bowls on a potter’s wheel in the lobby!
Renee LeBlanc is one of six zealous and daring craftspeople that have taken on the challenge to create 100 bowls to donate for the Empty Bowls Houston event. Click here to read about this challenge in our blog.
HANDS-ON HOUSTON is a free craft-activity open house on the first Saturday of every month.
Clay for this activity was generously donated by The Ceramic Store.
