In preparation for the fall exhibition, Later, Longer, Fewer: The Work of Jennifer Ling Datchuk, join HCCC to contribute to exhibiting artist Jennifer Ling Datchuk’s Community Bead Project.
Datchuk’s upcoming exhibition addresses women’s empowerment amidst many societal, cultural, and political systems that continue to hold people back. The Community Bead Project encourages individuals to lift one another up through positive words of affirmation and respect for one another, themselves, and their rights. Learn more about Datchuk’s project, and contribute words of affirmation by writing them on a porcelain bead. As part of the exhibition, Datchuk will create a large-scale curtain made of synthetic hair, adorned with the porcelain beads that include words of affirmation from participants.
Additional bead-writing events will be held on September 4th and October 2nd.
Note: This event is subject to change or cancellation in response to current COVID-19 conditions.
