December 3, 12 – 5 PM

Cayetano Valenzuela (Black Rabbit Studio) was born in Houston, Texas, and is currently a sign painter and illustrator living In Syracuse, New York. In 2013, he founded Black Rabbit Studio and began concentrating on letter forms after a career of showing work in galleries across the country. Valenzuela took instruction from several lettering artists, including professional sign painters teaching classes in and out of New York. As someone who loves vintage-style handmade objects, Valenzuela takes inspiration from these objects to paint signs for local businesses in Syracuse that seek hand-painted lettering. Most recently, he has been influenced by signs and advertisements from the 1930s and ‘40s, as well as circus and sideshow banners.
