Join Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC) and hundreds of cultural institutions across the country on Saturday, March 12, 2016 for Museum Day Live! when the Smithsonian Institution celebrates a nationwide campaign to reach women and girls in underserved communities.
Held during Women’s History Month, this “special edition” of Smithsonian’s signature “Museum Day Live!” event will encourage all people, and particularly women and girls of color, to explore their nation’s museums, cultural institutions, zoos, aquariums, parks and libraries—which will offer free admission for the day.
During you visit to HCCC, you will be able to enjoy our current exhibitions: At Your Service in the Main Gallery, Found Subjects: Works by Sondra Sherman in the Front Gallery, and Mixed and Mastered: Turntable Kitsch in the Artist Hall. We invite you to explore the Craft Garden, stop by the studios to meet HCCC’s current resident artists, and shop at our Asher Gallery.
In public remarks at the opening of the Whitney Museum in April 2015, First Lady Michelle Obama encouraged every cultural institution in the country to do outreach and engagement with our young people, noting “One visit, one performance, one touch, and who knows how you could spark a child’s imagination?”
How do I get tickets? Tickets are free and available online. All you need to do is register. Keep in mind that one ticket is good for one person + one guest and restrictions note one ticket is permitted per household. Additional guests are required to pay full admission. Tickets can be printed or shown on a smartphone. Click here for a list of participating museums in Texas.
Please note: Admission to Houston Center for Contemporary Craft is always free!
