Kick off Go Texan Day and rodeo season at the opening reception of Clutch City Craft, an exhibition surveying the makers and material traditions that have shaped Houston. Come with your finest Houston westernwear—boots, buckles, hats, grillz, and low rider styles are encouraged!—for a chance to take home two club-level tickets to the Houston Rodeo for Friday March 6th, courtesy BEB Marketing. Judging begins at 7:00 PM.

**UPDATE** The Houston Rockets’ 1994 and 1995 Larry O’Brien Championship Trophies, courtesy of Rocketball, Ltd., will be on view at the opening reception! Like the originals, these extraordinary replicas were produced by the master silversmiths of Tiffany & Co. and represent the thrill and glory of Houston’s historic 1994-1995 NBA seasons, which gave the city its most popular nickname: “Clutch City.”

The evening will also feature the opening of Asher: Off the Wall’s Clutch City Collection, which features works for sale by Alam Lalani, Morgan Hill, and other artists in celebration of the exhibition. Beer generously provided in-part by Frost Town Brewing.

While you’re in the neighborhood, make sure to check out Lawndale’s opening reception for Mud + Corn + Stone + Blue.

Clutch City Craft is curated by Sarah Darro, Curator & Exhibitions Director at HCCC. The exhibition is presented in concert with Handwork: Celebrating American Craft 2026, a national semiquincentennial initiative organized by Craft in America and the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum to showcase the central role of handmade knowledge in shaping American life.
